At the station, Qing and his team squeeze into carriage 12 of heir workers' train. Qing carries in his backpack one modest pack of sausages, two small bottles of water and an apple. That's all he'll be consume on his sweltering three-day journey to the cotton farms of western China [Xinjiang].

Qing, has no idea about the simmering resentment people like him [cotton migrants] are causing. On July 5, 2009 race riots broke out in Urumqi, Xinjiang's capital, leaving almost 200 dead.
